Flour and education

Carrs Breadmaker is on a daring mission to boost breadmaking in classrooms throughout the UK!

Teachers across the UK can now download a breadmaking education module from this site AND receive free flour from our company - as well as the chance to win an automatic breadmaker.

Pupils Hannah Beck, Michael Donald, Luke Rumney, Josh Wright and Tyler Baird and their winning loaf. It was inspired by and adapted from an existing educational module after a hugely successful pilot involving primary schools near the company's mill at Silloth, Cumbria.

Aimed at nine and ten-year-olds, it puts the bounce into breadmaking and kids will never look at a bag of flour in quite the same way again!

“As a company we want to play our part in helping teachers to educate schoolchildren about healthy, nutritious homemade bread.” explained Caroline Dale, marketing manager, Carrs Breadmaker.

“We believe that fresh bread should be a tasty, wholesome part of any youngster’s diet.”

Solway Community Technology CollegeWe hope that teachers everywhere will use Carrs Breadmaker flour to give their pupils a culinary adventure to savour.

It was devised in conjunction with Julia Cooper, Head of Design Technology at Cumbria’s Solway Community Technology College, and four feeder primary schools.

Healthy SchoolsThe module - which is tailored to automatic breadmakers - is being endorsed by Cumbria Healthy Eating.

“Now that the breadmaking module is available on this site we would love to hear from schools who have given it a go," added Mrs Dale.

"Send us portfolios of your classroom projects and the best one each month will win a top-of-the-range breadmaker and a supply of Carrs Breadmaker flour."

From September, Carrs Breadmaker will be delighted to offer free flour to the first hundred schools downloading this module >>
