Stewart engineers breadmaker competition win!
A SEMI-RETIRED engineer from Southwaite in Cumbria pledged to use his loaf after winning a state-of-the-art Panasonic bread making machine.
Stewart Hudson, 59, also won a supply of Carrs Breadmaker flour - including the new Malty Seeded variety - in a Cumberland News ‘Farmer’ supplement competition.
“I’ve recently started getting into different types of bread after buying fresh loaves from Moore’s Bakery at Dalston, near Carlisle,” he explained.
“I really like his marmalade loaf and also his Guinness bread.
“Both my wife and I are conscious of healthy eating so making our bread is a great way of knowing exactly what goes into our food.”
Currently converting a barn near his house into two holiday cottages, Stewart thinks he might present visitors with a freshly-baked loaf as part of a hospitality tray.
“It could be our unique selling point,” he said.
Caroline Dale, marketing manager for Carrs Breadmaker, was delighted Stewart was inspired by Moore’s Bakery - as Carr’s supplies their flour.
“Baker Dave Moore makes a superb range of breads so if Stewart can aim towards his standard he will eat very well indeed,” she said.
“I’ve given him a few tips but using our breadmaker flour in a Panasonic bread making machine is pretty straightforward and gives you tremendous results.”
